David and Goldie

Cantor David Brandhandler, passed away on Thursday, June 2.   He was 102 years and 352 days old.  It was my honor to photograph and film him in his home along with Goldie, his loving wife, in January of this year.  Some of you may recall this earlier blog post about them – click here.  Such an amazing man.
(Included in this current blog post are photos that were not in the previous post from January.) (more…)

Bedroom from the Yellow House

Not too many people realize that Vincent Van Gogh painted three copies of the bedroom in the Yellow House he rented in Arles, France.  For the first time in history, the three paintings are in display in the same place…at the Art Institute of Chicago.  Also, they have created a life-sized replica of the bedroom (see photo above).  (more…)

Waldheim Jewish Cemetery

Found on the Ground

Hmm…which one of these images should I use for my project? (more…)

David, the Cantor

Photography is much more than just taking pictures.  It’s the chance to interact with people, places, and things in our world….and in our imagination.  I feel fortunate that I have had the opportunity to meet David, the Cantor.  He is 102 years old, born in Trondheim Norway in 1913 and arriving here before his Bar Mitzvah.  Amazing man…and his wife, Goldie, too!
